FAQ
I have compiled a list of questions most frequently asked by people seeking therapy. If you do not find your question below, please email me and I would be happy to help.
Q. How do I know if I need therapy?
A. You don't have to be in a crisis to go to therapy. Therapy isn't only for when things are "really bad."
If you're feeling stuck in the same patterns, overthinking constantly, struggling in relationships, feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or simply wondering "Why do I keep reacting this way?" - therapy can help.
Many people come to therapy not because they're falling apart, but because they want to understand themselves better and live differently.
Q. Is therapy the same for everyone?
A. Not at all.
Therapy isn't a one-size-fits-all process. Every person brings a different story, personality, attachment style, family background, and set of experiences into the room.
The way we work together depends on you - your goals, your pace, and what feels safe and meaningful to explore. Some sessions may focus on emotions, some on patterns, some on practical coping skills, and some simply on making sense of your experiences.
Q. Will you give me all the answers and tell me what I should do?
A. I wish therapy worked like giving life instructions - but it usually doesn't.
I won't tell you what decisions to make or how to live your life. Instead, we'll explore your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and patterns together so that you can make choices that feel aligned with your values.
My role isn't to give you all the answers - it's to help you discover the ones that already make sense for your life.
Q. What is your expertise?
A. I am a psychologist and psychotherapist with experience working with adults, couples, and families across a wide range of emotional and relational concerns.
My work particularly focuses on relationships, attachment patterns, emotional regulation, personality dynamics, self-esteem, anxiety, and understanding how our early experiences shape the way we relate to ourselves and others.
Alongside clinical practice, I actively engage in research and academic work, with a special interest in areas such as personality, attachment, relationship dynamics, and emotional well-being.
My approach integrates evidence-based practices while also recognizing the cultural and relational contexts people live in.
Q. What types of counselling do you offer?
A. Individual Counselling: A space to explore anxiety, stress, self-esteem, emotional difficulties, life transitions, relationship concerns, attachment wounds, grief, personality patterns, and personal growth.
Couples Counselling: A space for partners to improve communication, navigate conflict, rebuild trust, strengthen emotional intimacy, and understand recurring relationship patterns.
Q. What will happen in the first therapy session?
A. The first session is usually about getting to know you.
We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you're struggling with, your personal history, relationships, and what you'd like support with. You don't need to prepare anything or know exactly what to say.
Many people worry they'll be judged or asked difficult questions immediately - but therapy moves at a pace that feels manageable for you.
You don't have to tell your whole story in one session.
Q. How can I take care of myself in addition to therapy?
A. Therapy is usually one part of well-being, not the entire picture.
Things that can support your mental health alongside therapy include:
-
Prioritizing sleep and rest
-
Building routines that feel sustainable
-
Moving your body regularly
-
Maintaining supportive relationships
Small, consistent changes often matter more than dramatic ones.
-
Setting boundaries
-
Journaling or reflecting on emotions
-
Engaging in hobbies and activities that bring joy
-
Practising self-compassion, especially during difficult periods
Q. What are some mental health resources?
A. Here are some resources many people find helpful:
You can visit our self help resources section to access mental health worksheets, emotions regulation exercises and journal prompts for free.
Remember: resources can be supportive, but they don't replace professional help when you're struggling significantly.
Q. Is the pricing per session?
A. Yes. The fee mentioned is *per therapy session*.
